About this deal

Scene recognition does a good job guessing the scene in front of it, and it’s good to see machine learning being used even in relatively basic models like this. But that’s the thing – many of the situations that you might want to use the XP140 would easily kill your smartphone.

So the Finepix XP140 does ok for macro shot’s but if you like to get in really close, you can’t beat the microscope modes on the TOUGH TG-6. The XP140 is very much a point-and-shoot camera, with no manual controls aside from exposure compensation. Duologi is a trading name of Specialist Lending Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (register number 774712 ). It probably won’t outdo your smartphone in some situations, and if you don’t need 4K video then it’s worth checking out the even more affordable Fujifilm XP130, but it makes a great stand-in for those times when you don’t want to risk your phone.

This is a selection of sample images from the Fujifilm FinePix XP140 camera, which were all taken using the 16 megapixel Fine JPEG setting.

Overall, the Finepix XP140 is a compact rugged camera that would appear to offer serviceable image quality and the ability to go a significant depth underwater. The real estate at the back of the FujifilmFinepix XP140 is meanwhile largely swallowed up by its 3-inch, 920K dot resolution LCD screen, which occupies two thirds of the left hand side in the absence of any optical or electronic viewfinder, the inclusion of which, to be honest, would always feel like unnecessary window dressing anyway on a camera of this size. If you’re on the lookout for an affordable holiday or day trip camera that can withstand some abuse, then the XP140 makes a compelling argument for a spot in your rucksack. With a backlit sensor on board, we even found the camera coped rather better than expected in low light or at night, despite the distinctly average f/3. The Fujifilm FinePix XP130 is a new tough, do-it-all camera that adds bluetooth connectivity, longer battery life, eye-detect auto-focusing and an electronic level.In-depth testing Latest Camera Reviews Beyond the studio tests Feature Articles and Videos see how we see Sample Galleries real world performance Field Test Videos Throwback Thursday Classic Cameras from Days Past What's that Noise? That said, if you want to pick up a camera to use as a holiday or day trip snapper, without putting a strain on your smartphone, then the XP140 is more than capable of producing good shots, especially in bright light.
